We will work on Psalm 119:105 in class next week
In first grade we focus on a memory verse for about 2 weeks at a time. I will send home a hard copy of the verse with a "To be said by" date on it.
ABC Bible Memory Verse: Z: Zacchaeus you come down! I am going to your house today. Luke 19:5
Each week we will focus on a verse that will go in order of the ABC'S. We will use these verses during our class devotions. They will not be required memory work but will , hopefully, become memorized because of frequent use.

Reviewing all the strategies' we have learn to fact solve
Working with math facts to improve quick recall.
*Students should be able to identify and count using all of the coins.
*They should also be able to easily tell time to the hour and half hour and be using those skills to tell time to the minute.
*Students should also know addition and subtraction facts to 20.
Fact Solving Strategies:
Make Ten-
Ten Friends - We need to memorize all the fact families that equal ten. 9+1, 8+2, 7+3, 6+4, 5+5
Missing Middles- We can use Double Facts to solve 3+4, 4+5, 5+6,7+8, 8+9
Doubles + 1 facts They can also be called near Doubles or Next door Neighbor facts. This is where we look for the numbers that are neighbors on the number line and then you can double the number that is least and then add one more. 3+4 = 3+3+1more

These facts need to be memorized because most of our other fact finding strategies are based on this strategy.

The Robot Monkey Concert is scheduled for May 22 at 2:00 in the Gym! YEAH!
This will be a very short performance which will really be our class tapping out song beats on cardboard boxes.
You do not need to do anything for this except, if it is possible, come to the gym and have fun and cheer and clap for us. This is something the first graders have been planning at lunch and recess and all of the students have been putting in ideas. So we turned it into a fun-end-of-year activity. It will last about 10 minutes and then you may take them home because it is an Early Dismissal Wednesday. Hope you can make it.
